Question about the IDF, Israel Military. Please help!?

I'm wanting to know from people that have maybe been in it, known someone or at least know about it. I am jewish by choice, I was not born Jewish. I have no family members that are ether, that I know of. Just information about how it is compared to the American military, how it is, etc. I have researched it, but I would also like experience from others as well.
