Why do a fairly good portion of true liberals oppose to gas drilling?

The US exports 56% of all the oil that it produces, because we don't have the refineries to process it. If we produce more oil, it will just be more oil that is exported toward the benefit of the large oil companies. If we build more refineries, we would be able to keep that oil HERE.
